Research area
Currently, my research focuses on native speakers’ and experts’ ideologies of Romani language. I spent two years doing linguistic anthropological fieldwork in Romani-speaking Gabor Roma communities. My PhD dissertation deals with the pragmatic and social functions of two discursive forms frequently present in the interactions between the members of these communities. Furthermore, I have also analysed metapragmatic ideologies connected to these discursive forms, with special emphasis on the role of gender in linguistic ideologies.
